IS RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS.
Membership requirements:
1) Be 18 yrs of age or older
2) Be in fair physical condition, capable of carrying out some of the following activities:
A) Walking with a response pack (20 lbs) for up to 4-6 hrs a day in rough terrain,
B) While wearing a response pack (as part of a 4 person team) assist in moving an injured casualty up to 1 miles in rough terrain.
C) Operate in field environments for up to 4 days at a time <field being defined as land based, living in a tent in the Yellowknife area while conducting SAR or other operations.
D) Providing first aid to persons in cold/ wet or crowded environments.
3) Capable of passing an RCMP criminal records check.
4) Capable of passing and maintaining Standard First Aid/ SAR Basics/ CERT Core.
5) Must have sufficient out door clothing and personal kit to operate in all environments (CERT provides all other materials required to operate).

Be prepared to meet with members of the team, provide a resume with copies of certificates and undergo a criminal records check.
Upon review of documents the candidate may be invited to join as a member.
What if I have a criminal record for which a pardon has not
been received?
With the applicants permission we would review the back ground within the team first and then with our partners (IE RCMP/ etc)
What type of training is provided? And do I get a certificate?

* Ground SAR Basics
* Standard First Aid and CPR "C" as basics and then more advanced first aid training.
* Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Emergency Site Management (ESM) through National Emergency Preparedness College in Ottawa.
What does it cost?
*We have a $40 a year annual membership fee.
* Although all training is provided or coordinated by C.E.R.T NWT some course's do require the member to pay certificate costs/ text book costs etc.
